Sometimes it is, simply, about capturing the classic views of the landscapes and city streets you visit. But I especially like capturing the small details one can only see when you slow down and take your time to see the beauty unique to where you are. Stop for a moment, notice the natural light, is it different from where you were or where you’re going? Notice the color of things, are they softer or more vibrant than you are accustomed to? Look in the shop windows, at the surface below your feet, or the tree tops overhead. What new sounds can you hear or vistas are in your view? A fragrance floats through the air, beckoning you to find its source, a patisserie perhaps. You sit at a table, indulging in a local treat, and watch the people go by, locals, tourists, students, the old and the young, the dogs and the cats. You appreciate all the differences you see between home and here, how variety in our cultures make the world so magical. And you realize that every one, wherever they are in the world, desires beauty, community, and love.
