Rarely does one space represent the history, culture, and people of a community as definitely as a church. A looming cathedral sitting steadfast in the heart of a bustling city or a one room chapel atop a hill just outside a small village, they serve as ethological stewards. After years of visiting a variety of these spaces, there is one thing that unites them all - quiet reverence. I rather enjoy the serenity I find as I stroll around these tourism giants and obscure gems. The architecture is admirable and the artistry, strikingly beautiful. I especially love the symbiotic relationship with the sun, likened to a spotlight that moves through the building, casting its beam onto the variety of treasures within. Or how the sun scatters colors of the stained glass like prisms on any surface it can reach. More than just houses of worship, they hold the stories of the communities they serve and are worth the visit.
